Pre-pregnancy counselling

The initiative to seek fertility advice is an exciting one. Pre-pregnancy counselling is ideal to maximise the possibility of natural conception. The idea behind a specialist consultation prior to embarking on pregnancy is to identify and modify any medical, social and genetic factors that could have a potential adverse effect on the forthcoming pregnancy.

Fertility treatment

Not all couples who are trying to conceive need assisted reproduction to manage their fertility. Anju will assist you with all the necessary investigations required for you and your partner. Sometimes assistance is required in the form of medications that can be managed easily from our consulting rooms such as ovulation induction with follicle tracking. This is routinely undertaken for women with ovulatory disorders. Some women may require some surgical assistance such as a laparoscopy to help them conceive. Assisted reproduction is usually offered when all conservative options are exhausted.

Assisted reproduction ( IUI/IVF)

Fertility requirements for all patients are different and Anju works with each couple individually to create a fertility plan that is best suited for them. Anju works with Monash IVF to provide complete fertility care right here in town.

If you are a single woman and would like explore your fertility options. The best place to start is with a consultation. A thorough medical, gynaecological and family history is taken followed by clinical examination if necessary. Apart from a basic hormone profile your ovarian reserve is assessed. Once we have all the information available treatment options that are discussed with you.

Egg freezing and fertility preservation:

Freezing eggs for women is  generally performed for two reasons. Some women choose to freeze their eggs because they are aware of the impact age has on their fertility and they would like to give themselves options in later years. Other women need to freeze for medical reasons such as impaired ovarian function due to imminent chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment for cancer. During egg freezing mature unfertilised eggs are stored for future use in an attempt preserve potential fertility. Egg freezing is no longer in research phase and is now a commonly undertaken procedure. Anju can discuss the success rates, the process of egg freezing etc in detail with you.Egg freezing and fertility preservation.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) donor

This is usually performed if a woman decides to become a single parent via donor sperm. This is procedure in which sperm is inserted directly into a woman’s uterus when she is ovulating.

Women have  the option of using their own donors( known donors)  or donors recruited by the clinic.

In  Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) donor

This procedure  is usually undertaken when the IUI has failed or there are other  fertility issues that may require IVF such as tubal blockage, endometriosis, severe PCOS etc. Sometimes IVF with embryo testing is electively undertaken when a woman is advanced in age.
